Exports only counts for 15% of China's GDP. It is trying to become consumer based economy like the US. The goal of China is not to build more factories for cheap products. They want to develop technology that can rival or exceed the West. They don't really care if factories move to poorer countries.

History does rhyme. In the 60-70s USA used Japan as cheap manufacturing hub, then its technology started ro rival and crush American companies. The US crushed Japan by Plaza accord and tariffs. Back then sentiment was blame Japan for everything. Japanese copy and steal patents and make better products based on American designs etc. Now It's China's turn. Blame everything on China. China's human rights violation didn't matter in the early 2000 when they weren't a threat to the US. Now that they are on the verge of technological rivalry, USA decided to bring out all the excuses to block Chinese businesses.

@dodieodie498 Try to keep up. Chinese knock-offs on amazon has been going on for more than 10 years. The new reality is that some Chinese knockoffs are equal or better quality than the original brand names such as Lithium batteries and solar panels compared to Japanese or Korean brands. In not so distant future, there will be Vietnam / Indian knockoffs of Chinese brands. China is already way way passed trying to sell cheap knockoffs, exports only counts 15% of China GDP. They are trying to rival future techs with the West in areas such as semiconductors and AI.

Keep dreaming. There will be no reshoring. It's going to be re-globalization, factories just move from China to Vietnam, mexico and Africa, many of them will be owned bt Chinese companies.
