It's actually sad in America right now. The lack of consumer choices. Everywhere else in the world you have more options and more competitive prices.
33
You do so many ev reviews and bought a petrol car???
24
Let's be real. It's much easier to top up an ICE car than an EV as there are many more gas stations you almost never have to plan your trip.
20
Not just ahead, but also the pace of innovation in China is 10x that of the Western bloc.
8
@KekszNET Huge financial incentives. Also Norwegians don't complain about cold.
7
Chinese make much better EVs than Vietnamese. Imagine your next iPhone will come from India or Vietnam instead of China. I won't be buying one
6
@concinnus Not as bad as it sounds, buddy heaters are rated for indoor use actually. propane burns cleanly, I've tested it with fully enclosed car interior with a CO detector. After 1 hour, zero CO level.
5
EVs batteries age with change cycles and time, not mileage. If you are low mileage user and want to keep EVs long time thinking batteries will hold up, think again
5
You have too many cars. Walk a little more.
5
@денисбаженов-щ1б I'm not surprised at all. Americans are too comfortable sticking with the old. Chinese people are striving for advancement.
4
Congrats/
4
@Josh-179 also more reiable.
4
@brittgayle467 no. The object is to conserve battery for moving car only. So nothing electric for heating
3
No tarrrifs on Vietnamese EVs, they are 120% government subsidized.
3
@NhatVinhLe-lm5jh that's not a reason for double standard
3
@денисбаженов-щ1б in the West you have the freedom to mock your president and government so what. It's not like you can change anything
3
Toyota as a whole should be in museum
3
@SweetLou0523 the nature of fire is different
3
After seeing so many Chinese EVs, looking at another Western dinosaur juice car review just make me shake my head and laugh.
3
I heard some owners report excessive heat pump noise and vibration on some old e-trons.
2
Next time you take along journey in winter, take a personal propane heater just in case. See my other post for details.
2
@RH-rg6il if you are calling me Tesla bag holder you are barking up the wrong tree. I'm one of the biggest Tesla critic
2
XC90 phev is better. EV motor on pre transmission is stupid. It's less efficient and makes it feel clunky on EV mode . No one cares about saving fuel on that 2% time you need all wheel drive
2
Nice looking car
2
It's due to budget constraints.. Elon needs money to speed up FSD developers. IMHO FSD will fail
2
@tangoESPECIAL that tells you alot about him doesn't it
2
I disagree. Why would they release something so embarassing? It's against Japanese culture to lose face and suffer the shame of failure. They are actually really trying to catch up on EV, but they are simply too late , and incapable of creating competitive EV models.
2
@денисбаженов-щ1б they want freedom to drive their old Chevy truck.
2
No wonder the US has to ban Chinese cars. The US and Japanese autos will be crushed overnight if they open the flood gate.
2
You spend too much sitting in too many cars. You need to use your feet more to walk and excercise.
2
@ben3989 I'm just saying if you are a low mileage driver, you won't get your EV investment back because batteries will still age with time, not mileage driven. For example, if you keep charge level between 35 - 85% and drive many miles, is better than keep the car parked plugged in at 100% all the time and only drive 20km a month. Whereas gas engines are much more dependent on mileage driven than age. After 15 years, if your gas car is only 50,000 km driven, and keeping up maintenance, it will still be in very good shape. Whereas, your EV batteries will lose 50% after 15 years regardless how little you use it.

Don't be fooled by high tech bells and whistles of Korean products. I've never had a good experience of Korean brands from Appliances to phones. They all break right after warranty expiry.
2
Elon fires people in America and hires more in China :) hi my name is yi long ma!
2
@matthewmortensen7401 so you are saying people who live in an apartment without having access to home charger should not own an EV?
2
Except if you live in an apartment it's not this easy. They need to mandate all apartments to install level 1 and 2 chargers for tenants at reasonable cost.
2
This is not the world's fastest charging EV. . zeekr 001 can charge at 500kw and add 500 km in 15 minutes.
2
@dh2032 there is enough oxygen molecules getting into the car through Brownian movements workout the need for airflow. I've tested this with car windows completely shut. The burner stayed on for an hour.
1
@dh2032 the same reason you can burn a candle in a closed room without any airflow. As long as the room is not airtight, a little bit of gap that will let molecular level Brownian motion will get enough oxygen in

EVs have been on market for over 10 years, we still don't have reliable charging infrastructure. Tesla supercharging network maybe reliable, but what if your destination has no charger available, and far away from a supercharger? Even if a hotel says they have destination charger, you still have no way of knowing if they work or being used by another patron. Very inconvinient.
1
@callistoscali4344 I don't want to own two cars that's why I have a PHEV
1
@anhlam7131 No wonder Their quality has been going down.
1
@panameradan6860 I have XC90. When on EV mode, rare wheels never slipped not even once even in rain. Must be xc60 only problem
1
@panameradan6860 I get you. I really haven't had this issue with xc 90 recharge in EV mode. Even when I floor it from the stop or red light turning green. Mine is 2022 model year
1
fortunately, etron has traditional door handles, not like all the newer EVs with flush door handles that will often freeze shut during winter time.
1
@aguruattapiano the Western consumers. They are pretty backwards
1
@Legitplieerr yes I understand Western people are backwards. Kinda like Amish from Chinese perspective
1
Heating takes more energy than moving in severe weather
1
Why do Japanese make such ugly cars? Do they not have any sense of asthetic?
1
This just proves Kyle's body produces more heat.

The trick I use is to carry a small propane heater - the ones attached to the small propane bottle used for camping. If I ever get stranded in the cold, or traffic jam, I can turn off car's heat and use that instead. It'll save a lot of your battery, and use battery only for moving, none for heating which is very energy intensive for EVs. Evangelists probably cringe the idea of burning anything related to fossil fuel to keep warm. But It's for emergency only, and it's only a 1lb propane bottle, neglegible amount of emission for full 5 hours of heating. It is even safe to use in enclosed space as long as there is enough oxygen and ventilation. In my experience, you don't need to open the window, just run car's fan at the lowest setting (without heat or AC). If that is not enough, just crack open the window a little bit once in a while if windows fog up.
