Yeah, in Canada, you use AC maybe 2 weeks a year. I never had a car needed AC replaced. But you need heat in car for 8 months a year, much more wear and tear. Also, in the extreme cold, heat pump has to work a lot harder than the AC for cooling at least it seems to me where I live, maybe the reverse is true for hot climate.
Do they have the same compressor unit for for both AC and heat pump? If so, then even more wear and tear as it will have to work all year round, much sooner replacement cycle.
I also get an impression that Tesla were designed by people living in nice sunny warm California, they don't put too much thoughts into use cases in colder climate. It can be seen for lack of consideration for flush door handles being frozen shut in icy conditions, very low ground clearance - even for model Y - so called crossover / SUV have about the same height as Toyota Camry - a sedan.
