How did Japan go from the most futuristic to the most backward country in the world?

Nobody cares what you care.

Not everyone need a supercar like acceleration. Tesla cars rude quality is stiff, impractical in winter low ground clearance and flush door handles freeze over. Touchscreen controls distract driver attention. Low reliability in older models and expensive repair cost.

@mavelous1763 not me. I don't care for that much power and speed. As long as adequate acceleration to get on freeway and merge anything extra is waste of money and resource put in the car and may even increase the chance of accident. I'd much prefer Tesla focus on ride comfort and higher quality interior and put in some physical buttons and turn stalk instead. And real door handles that can be pulled open easily during freezing months here in Canada.

@justinr9753 backwards in technology adoption in general. They still use cash and CDs and flip phones, fax machines.

@mavelous1763 I'm an OG EV enthusiast. Even long before Tesla became mainstream. I understand why Tesla made their car like sportscar trying to win over non EV people with the sportscar appeal. It's not necessary for me. I'd rather have a practical EV that's simple to use and not full of gimmick tech that can break and expensive to repair. Unfortunately, stuck on tablet and software driven features are signature of most EVs now copied from Tesla. But it's totally unnecessary only adds to the cost of EVs and reduces long term reliability. I'm way more in favor of simpler EVs. Just adequate performance and no computer on wheels gimmick

@mavelous1763 Tesla is becoming ever more Chinese. If you live in Europe good chance you are driving a China made Tesla, or at least filled with Chinese batteries. They just announced a new battery factory in the US using CATL battery patents and equipment for next Tesla model 2 and possibly cybertruck. Do you consider that car built in a democratic country? Even if it licenses technology from China and pays Chinese company for it?
