I hope Japan chooses the right side. i grew up in Japan as a teenager. Privately they are not really fond of America / Western culture. They think American music is cringe, English language is awkward. We were forced to take English class in public schools, we all hated it. But they feel they have to adapt to the American culture out of fear and pressure. I remember one funny kid in class said, we have no choice but to learn English - if we didn't, you know they have those airplanes fly by and we'd all be screwed. Thene veryone including the teacher laughted. I'm sure you know what he was referring to . But privately they think their own Japanese culture is more civilized and higher level than the American. With the rise of China, this validate their view that our Asian brotherrs are just as good if not better than crude Americans.

@mikedelicus I never they hated Western culture. They just think their own is superior. They admire European cultures such as English and French. But they definitely think American cultural sophistication is really low and crude. They only respect American miltary strength, that's all. Culturally speaking, they don't think much of Americans.

@guygordon2780 Not really. There is objective truth to cultural sophistication and richness of one's history. America and Canada are "new" countries with very short histories, and most of population are immigrants. They bring their own cultures from Europe, Asia etc. There is very little unique American culture that can be compared to richness of European and Asian cultures. It's not subjective, it's objective. Cowboy hats, boots and fast food culture really can't compare to chateau of versailles, Roman colosseum, or Forbidden city of Beijing. No, nothing in America comes even close.

@lostgleammedia Miuch more highly than America, especially France. They admire everything French, just look at their maid cafe costumes. They love the British royals too.

@Javafixtime more like the land of wokeism and entitlement. Majority of innovators in America are immigrants, at least half are Chinese or Indian descendants.
