EV batteries are more limited by calendar aging than mileage, if you drive 400k miles in 3 years, of course it can do that. But can you drive 100k in 16 years? probably not. As with all modern cars (EV or ICE), the limiting factor is usually finicky eletronics and computers that age out before 10 years. So much critical functions are dependent on fragile computers that once they break, it will cost more than the car's worth to repair and replace them. So these high tech cars will be calendar time limited than mileage. I'd really want to see a low tech EV, where most of controls are directed via analog circuits and relays that will last forever just like a transistor radio. You can still have a touch screen for navigation and infotainment, but don't put critical vehicle control functions in them, such as gear shift, climate, temperature etc. Physical door latches and windows. Then that EV will probably last 50+ years and 1M miles.

@Aggie4life77 Yes, I read a stats that about 10-15% of model S that are 11 years + old have required battery replacement. I think the percentage would be higher if not for big portion of these model S's have gone out of service for other reasons such as electronic / computer, or motor failures.

And you need to read my comment again. I'm not denying the battery longevity is already beating ICE cars, but the limiting factor for Tesla and any other modern cars that are heavily relying on computers is the failure of finicky electronic components and computers before battery degradation. And it's not limited just to EVs, many ICE cars especially in luxury and premium space suffer the same problems. Brands like Toyota are reliable only because they limit the use of the latest tech, and instead fall back to the analog circiots and physical controls that are enduring over long period of time. I have yet to see this methodlogy applied to any EV brands legacy or EV-only, they seem to think all buyers of EVs expects EVs to be high tech only.

Good luck trying to save your Tesla stock.. Elon just came out and admitted to cancel model 2. The only realistic hope for Tesla. FSD and Factory bots are pipedreams

@CorwynGC Doesn't matter how long the batteries list. As I said the limiting factor for modern cars are electronics. Majority of modern cars are so dependent on computers and finicky electronics that usually don't last more than 7 or 8 years that require expensive repairs. Some old school brands (Toyota, Buick, Chrysler 300 etc, and some pickups) still limits the use computers, or at least on non-critical functions. But in EV space, for some cultural or trendy style reasons, are all computer on wheels centered designs with a single point of failure, and not repairable other than by the manufacture specialized tools and technicians. I would like to see at least one EV brand brave enough to make an "analog" EV with simple physical control interface, and can be repaired easily without needing special computer and software.

@CorwynGC I don't know why you keep coming back to comparing EVs and ICE as an argument against mine. I already said electric drivetrains are more robust than ICE, but I wish some EVs would rid of finicky computers and electronics is the single point of failure in controlling critical functions of vehicle such as selecting drive / reverse / park, HVAC, turn signals, lights. ideally should be physical controls so they would don't get all disabled because your stuck-on tablet goes dark or need reboot in the middle of driving. And if they break, anyone can just replace a burnt out fuse or relay, rather than having to change the entire computer and control module. That big center screen is only necessary for infotainment and navigation, and should be optional for those who need it. I know it will cost more if there was that level of customization, but I think there is a substantial unmet market for simpler analog EVs. But curently, every new EV is somehow expected to be computer on wheels, I think it's almost a myth and misconception that EVs need to be high tech or else they wouldn't work.
