  1. I had this idea for a while actually. EVs tend to be less efficient in higher speeds gear reduction could improve highway mileage without using high end expansive motors. It doesn't need 5 speed, just 2 speed is sufficient. One for city diving, one for highway

  2.  @williammeek4078  I know that torque curve for electric motors are broader, but there is still a limit as higher RPM causes more friction and heat. i think a main concern for adding even a simple transmission is the weight and added complexity to vehicle. But it would be interesting to see if there is a trade off that works, as well as adding fun factor for drrivers.
