  1. Sam you are over-criticizing PHEVs. I own a Volvo PHEV and it is designed to be very safe and haven't heard any fires from Volvo PHEVs. It depends on design. Fire risks should be reduced as technology matures. There are some very good use cases for PHEVs especially in colder climate and sparsely populated areas with few charging infrastructure. In these areas, PHEV could get people to not worry about range axiety especially in very harsh winter weather, but still reduce emission up to 95% in regular use.
