@SubwayOM it's not about whether or not seniors with weak hands or mental reaction time should or should not be driving. A car should be made as easy as possible for anyone to drive. Even if you are young and strong there might be times you are tired or run down or distracted. The system should still be made as simple and easily as possible for drivers to react without having to look away from the road.

@whynotstartusingyourbrain8726 You need to get your head checked. I never said I don't know how to operate a Tesla, I'm saying it's less robust and intuitive because you have to use your eyes to look at touch screen to touch the correct spot. That takes attention away from driving, and is dangerous, and longer reaction delays. With physical controls, once you are familiar with the position, you can just reach down with your hand and push, pull, twist or whatever, you don't need to look, you can feel it with your hand. Tesla removed physical controls in favour of touch screen because they want to cut cost, not to benefit consumers.

The West is slow to adopt EVs because combustion engine cars are so deeply ingrained in people's psyche it's difficult to paradigm change. It's easier for China as allot of people first vehicles are EVs. They never "loved" a combustion engine car before they have no attachments to the old rumbling machines.

@whynotstartusingyourbrain8726 I have an infant child sleeping in the car, what if I don't want to use my voice? Or I'm having a conversation with my passenger, voice control is extremely annoying you have to stop the flow of conversation, and wait for voice control to respond. It's still too slow compared to just grab and push by hand without looking. My 2006 BMW had nearly everything controllable with voice control also, but I rarely use it, voice control is just not as useful and I find it tiring always having to talk to something / somebody, when I just want a quiet time in my car. Last time when I still had my model 3, I could not even get car to change temperature with voice control. Maybe "software update" has fixed it, but that's another thing annoys me about Tesla, they always push things off to next software update, next software update. Sometimes updates break other things. They should just get at least basic functions right the first time, intead of constantly changing things around to confuse users.

@whynotstartusingyourbrain8726 2019. Voice control on setting temperature, raisins or lowering radio volume was common place for cars since 2010s. Yet Tesla while being so tech focused didn't have it. But this giant annoying touch screen in the middle trying to appeal to computer nerds just screams gimmickiness. Even to this day there is no birds eye view or surrounding cameras view, still awaiting software update while other auto makers had it for 10 years. But I have to give it to Tesla that their phone app is the best. Fast and intuitive. Always works unlike most other cars phones apps. But as far as driver focused features, Tesla is lacking. They seem to focus more on making a computer on wheels rather than a car for drivers.

@larryevans6739 technology is supposed to make things easier but so far, things like voice commands, touch screen, software updates that often reshuffles control menus and buttons confuse drivers even more and you have to get re-aquintted with the interface all over again. What's all these fools errands for? Just to make a sleek modern design? Flexible software UI? I think they need to rethink overdoing computer on wheels thing it's gone too far.

@davidbrayshaw3529 It's true. Especially the fragile nature of battery pack. If just one cell in the battery pack is bust, the entire pack is toast, you can't repair just one cell, unlike ICE, you can replace certain components and the rest of engine can still function.

@whynotstartusingyourbrain8726 And why are you vehemently defending Tesla anyways? If you are tying to convince people EVs are better and better for environment, I'm in full agreement. I love EVs, I still own an EV, just not Tesla. I think Tesla is actually giving EVs a bad name because they associate EVs with needlessly over-engineered high tech gadgets that distract driving, calling something FSD that's not really fully able to drive itself - misleading. Computer - on wheels design that has nothing to do with electric drivetrain that fixed air pollution, but turn a ot of people from EVs in general because they mistakenly think all EVs must have high tech computer on wheels designs which is not true at all. EVs can be great if they are deisnged with no-non-sense gimmicks tech gadgets to break or fail like Tesla is doing.
