More important question is does the US extradite American citizens to China if they committed traffic violations?

@@phillipbanes5484 that's based on American values system. They could equally say that US courts don't have fair process therefore refuse extradition.

@joeltrail8186 yeah but if an American did a hit and run in China, Russia or Iran, or any other types of homicide or felony, will the US send him to that country? I think not

@jiminauburn5073 same conviction rate in Japan. Oh wasn't Japan an US ally and share the same values? Hmmm. Maybe high conviction rate is an indication of highly efficient police and protection. Is the US court system perfect? Can you be sure judges aren't politically biased? If they try a Chinese national, can there not be any political motivation to make a circus of it? If the US decided to go enemy with a certain country it should suffer the consequences of non extradition. You can argue whose court system is better and fair it's moot point.

@jiminauburn5073 but they have extradition treaty with the US. If an American commit a crime in Japan and comes back to the US he will be extradited to Japan for trial. The point is that extradition treaty is not based on fairness of courts in particular country but more based on politics and relationships between two governments.

@Rihardololz under some felony as excuse of course. Usually a setup or frame. How do you know this accident is not framed by CIA and the US government wanted to arrest this Chinese woman for political reasons? She seems rich and important maybe have some powerful connections to big Chinese business or government officials. Maybe she knows something trade secrets etc. my point is that given the tension between the US and China, you cannot rule anything out, therefore her allegedly crime is not beyond reasonable doubt and China has legit reasons not to send her back the US custody.

This story is very suspicious that police didn't detain her at hospital or order blood alcohol test while she was there. It almost seems CIA setup trying to frame her for the accident. But mis coordinated with the local police somehow.

Do we really know the truth? She seems to be well off individual driving an expensive car. Maybe she is some important business woman and the CIA is secretly trying to get rid of her by framing her on this accident. That would be her argument. It's perfectly reasonable given the US China tension and perfectly reasonable for China not extradite her to the US as you can't rule out any political motivation on framing her. We'll never know. Will we. Poor victim though.
