CATL makes the best battery. Can you imagine the depreciation of the current EVs using Korean and Japanese batteries.

@de4dcert people will pay the absolute minimum they have to for any goods. If the newer stuff is better and cost less, the older stuff will depreciate even if nothing wrong with them.

@de4dcert but there are use cases for ice cars EVs can't yet cover. That's why they have so far retained value well, actually better than used EVs.

@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 I highly doubt your Kia e Niro is holding up better than Toyota RAV4. The thing with nmc batteries is that they hold up well in the first 10 years up to 80% capacity. Once it falls under that it's like dropping off a cliff. Or if one cell within the pack develops debtrites and short the cell they are not going to be able to just replace the problem cell. The whole thing is write off. With older ice cars many little things can break but they can be fixed and replaced pieces wise relatively inexpensively. And you can theoretically keep an ice car going for20-30 years as long as you maintain it properly and keep low mileage.
