This is how being a physician went from a profession of compassion to a profession of prestige. Sad that everything in America revolves around money.

@stevencooper4422 maybe in the English speaking world. Not so in many other cultures.. doctors were simply just another profession such as barber, baker, teacher etc. It wasn't a level up above other jobs.

@youtubesucks1499 I think a lot of that training is overkill for being a family doctor prescribing for common illness. Most doctors in other countries receive much less time in school and do just fine

@xon2013 for sure I'm not saying people working in health care are only for the money. I know many nurses and doctors that are truly good and compassionate people too. But I also know many who are aspiring to be doctors got turned away because of the high barriers. I agree with the videos thesis that AMA are raising the requirements for medical doctors in order to enrich themselves. Why is quality of medical care in Japan and UK are also world class while their doctors can enter medical school after high school while in North America medical school requires you to attend undergraduate University first? Makes no sense.

@youtubesucks1499 obviously different kind of doctors require different levels of training. There is no need to go to 10 years of school just to be a family doctor.

@youtubesucks1499 so are you saying doctors in UK and Japan are less competent than American doctors?

@youtubesucks1499 not really. I never said surgeon. I said family doctors in America are over trained for their roles.
