  1. LFP batteries don't require nickel. CATLs latest LFP batteries bossts similar energy density but 3 times the life span, half the cost of traditional lithium ion batteries such as made by Panasonic. It's very risky to bet on nickel if this new battery chemistry becomes the dominant one in very near future.

  2.  @EIRE55  I'm 95% confident that nickel and cobalt will gradually be phased out from EV batteries very soon. LFP batteries are also safer less likely to catch fire. The only problem is LFP batteries are only made by CATL right now and most of the Western countries block Chinese made EV components with tarrifs. Some of the Teslas with CATLs LFP batteries can be found in Canada but not in the US. Base model Volvo ex30 comes with LFP cells, but they don't qualify for EV tax credit in the US
