  3. I prefer keeping furnace and water heater using gas. If electric power goes out, at least the most critical heat and hot water are still available. You can survive and water pipes won't burst

  4. One big thing that's not getting talked about enough is reliability of heat pumps with a lot more moving parts than a resistive heater or gas burner. With 3-4x purchase price how long will they last until you need to replace or major repairs?
