  5. Go much further back. Folk spent decades in asylums for things as petty as theft. A guy spent over twenty seven years in Rampton (released in the very late '70's, following examination of his case files) for stealing a purse and a woman had spent nearly forty years in the old Broadmoor for stealing a loaf. Many criminal cases were dependent on judges and their interpretation of the accused's mental state. Obviously, family members were incarcerated in asylums over inheritances, etc, too and an examination of the reasons for admission were actually crazy themselves, which was more of a reflection of the mental instability of those who ran the places, in many cases! It's horrific what went on only fifty years ago.

  10. I'm dubious about the source claiming dogs yawn, when nervous. Swift, darting lick lipping, the same with darting glances, guilty looks, ears back and tail down are, in my experience, the signs a dog is nervous. Cats are similar, except their tails twitch, similar to when they are hunting. Slow yawns are indications they are comfortable in your company, as are slow eye blinks. They're saying "Chill, I've no intention of attacking you!" Sounds more like psychiatry is incorrectly applying human behaviour to animals.

Gbh with intent, probably, but folk are in prison for unintentional manslaughter, because the victim was hit in the wrong place, fell too hard, fell on an object, etc and that's just those attackers that were unarmed. The human body is a lot more fragile and susceptible to fatal injury than most folk think, sadly.

  13. Clever man, Derren. Showed how he does some of his stuff, once. Cues folk were subconsciously seeing on the way to his shows that influenced their questions, drawings, etc. A friend, decades ago, did a mentalist act on stage. One part involved three seperate strangers. One picks just one book out of half a dozen, the next picks a page and the third person picks a paragraph. He'd then recite, verbatim, what was written. He offered to show me how it was done, but I declined. Got to have some 'magic' left in our lives, right? 😜😂

  15. I've no time for this pseudoscience claptrap! According to this woman's criteria I'm a compulsive liar, but my family, friends, acquaintences and colleagues (even my enemies) know this to be false, as some have found to their cost. Don't tell me a secret, because, if asked, I'll spill the beans. Don't ask my opinion, unless you really want the truth. I'm as honest as the day is long, (moreso on short winter days. 😂) yet my body language says differently. Lying never occurs to me, it just isn't in me.

  22.  @Carolineconnected  Not usually, they all are...it's a prerequisite, a facet of their nature, although not all narcissists are psychopaths. Most are happy just to assassinate your character rather than you, as they still feel general fear, especially of being judged mentally imbalanced and being sent to prison.

They are incapable of feeling positive emotions like love and playrole the part, but derive pleasure from the misery or pain of others and unbridled rage is something they are only too happy to indulge in. Personal.experience of my stepfather led me to these observations. He is the only man I have ever feared in my entire life.
