Crass stupidity, born of arrogance, for which I hope they lose the vast majority of their support, however, those no longer supporting or even those members leaving the party will transfer to any of the other parties in support of revoking the union.

Salve Jure Cujuslibet 1663 Claim of Right Act 1689 Act of Union 1707 MacCormick v Lord Advocate (Court of Session) 1953 Interpretation Act 1978 The majority of Scotland's voters have returned the snp to govt over the last thirteen years on the understanding they revoke the union. That's how democracy operates. Studying the listed documents might assist you from posting nonsensical tirades on social media and prevent future generations from laughing at your evident ignorance.

@D-day Oh, that's simple, the majority of voters in Scotland want to dissolve the UK. At one point the snp were the only party offering to revoke the union, in their manifesto. Most stayed, when other options became available, out of loyalty. This was, you understand, prior to the snp trying to enact the GRR Bill into law, for which, I suspect, they'll pay dearly, as supporters drift to the other parties.

It's feasible, but under current circumstances, would only serve to alienate more of their members and support. I'd assume wiser heads would caution against it.

@James Collins 😂😂😂😂😂😂 You appear to be in the dark, James. Following the repeal of the union, there will be a GE in Scotland. Many folk mistakenly believe the snp will carry on, as per usual, but, if you think about it, their main purpose will have been achieved, so they'll have to set out their stall, along with any other parties standing. They'll quite likely think twice about adding Bills to their manifesto, like the GRR, which have divided their party and lost them both members and voters, as their main selling point will be defunct. Prior to that any potential govt will have their attention drawn to the Scottish Constitution, so they understand they are empowered by the Scottish electorate to fulfill the wishes of the people and failure to do so will carry a charge of treason. Unlike England, where Parliament is Sovereign and the people/commoners are not, the opposite is true in Scotland. Every man, woman and child is, in their own right, a Sovereign/Liege and govt is answerable to them. This current Parliament, in Holyrood, is nothing more than the Scottish branch of Wastemonster, operating under English parliamentary laws, Statutes and regulations. Most folk, not just in Scotland, or even the UK, but around the world have no idea what true democracy really is, but they will witness it, once the split has been achieved. I imagine it will cause shockwaves, in England alone, as the good folk begin asking themselves why it's so different in their country, maybe going further and demanding the same rights for themselves, but, of course, I'm just speculating at this point, you understand, however, I'm sure it's been on the mind of successive English govts for a long, long time.

Check the vote counts. The snp have won, hands down, for the last thirteen years, meaning they had the support of the majority of Scottish voters. You can't argue with facts. This GRR issue, however, will see supporters turn their back on the party at the next elections, as they will change to other parties that intend to revoke the union. This was a self inflicted wound on similar lines to the tories.

It won't happen, no matter how much shouty typing you do. We're bound by the English Parliamentary system, remember? There has to be a GE and they'll get back in. Both labour and tories are finished in Scotland. That leaves the the parties intending to revoke the union, who hold the majority of Scottish votes. Aye, the snp will lose support over this and they'll just drift into the other anti union parties, besides, the Bill got cross party support or had you forgotten that? They'll form another coalition, it's that simple. Now, had we split, in 2014, we could have tried the entire parliament for treason, under Scottish Law and the Scottish Constitution, but nae luck there, eh?

@mac 1 How so? The other parties in support of repealing the union couldn't win an election, even combined and even with new supporters and members the snp have lost. The labour and tories, even combined, would be lucky to challenge one of the wee indy parties, never mind the depleted snp, who would still be the largest party. It would end up with another coalition. Your comment makes no sense.

@Mr G It was part of the SNP's manifesto, clearly laid out, prior to the election. Folk should read them, before voting, obviously. I cannot argue against your view that Holyrood is not fit for purpose, as I entirely agree, but not for the same reason as yourself. My reason is the simple fact that Holyrood is in collusion with Wastemonster and is, in fact, the Scottish branch of Wastemonster, ergo does not serve the best interests of Scotland.

@Mari Murphy Those no longer prepared to vote snp, along with those that have resigned their membership, will swap over to one of the other parties set on revoking the union. The snp have shot themselves in the foot, but the desire for the split with England won't fade with the snp's reversal in popularity. The movement has grown far beyond one single party now.

Any support they lose will transfer to the other parties, such as Alba or the Greens, ensuring the union will be revoked. The more support the snp lose will be to the benefit of the other parties. Did you not think of that?

Let's not forget that the majority of Scottish voters have returned them to power for almost a decade and a half, albeit with a coalition with the Greens. Now the disillusioned have options, as there are other parties who intend ending the UK. Obviously, all those parties will unite and go for tactical voting, so the split with England will still occur, but there's no certainty the snp will be in the driving seat anymore.

Immaterial what the snp want, as it could never happen under Scottish law or the Scottish Constitution. Unlike England, where Parliament is Sovereign, while the public/commoners are not, therefore Parliament is not answerable to the people, although they deliberately mislead the people into believe they are, the opposite is true in Scotland, as it is the people who are Sovereign and not Parliament, therefore Parliament has to account to every man, woman and child, who are Sovereigns/Lieges, in their own right. The GRR Bill should have gone to public consultation. I don't believe this will be the last we hear on this issue. An organisation, in Scotland, which is non-party, non profit, it's motives to promote Scotland's intentions to revoke the union, fully intends to drag Wastemonster through the ICJ, later this year on charges of fraud. It should prove interesting, as the UK Supreme Court cannot save the govt or the tories this time, as it is subjugate to the ICJ.

I'd assume Klaus's boss, Charlie III of Buck Palace, won't be best pleased either and will have words with Useless at the big celebration, May 6th, next month.
