  1. I thought all dogs were like that, but found out, aged about ten, that they weren't. The more time you put in with an animal, explaining what you're doing, naming things around them, teaching them commands and tricks, repetively, calmly and patiently, the more their understanding develops. Cats are equally intelligent, but reluctant to perform tricks or obey commands and the onus is on you to first notice how many different yips they have and what each one means. I had a siamese cross and boy could he talk! And love, that takes you both a long, long way. I'll never understand pet owners that don't love their animal/s, who always give unconditional love. Those are the animals that show the least awareness, like a neglected child, I guess. I really like this little guy. He's all ears, if you'll pardon the pun, listening carefully, so he doesn't miss a thing. He's obviously a pleasure to have in your company.
