Trump tried to fob them off with gold bullion, which, upon being assayed, turned out to be gold plated tungsten ingots. I'd guessed all his anti China propaganda was to gain the US public's support, so he could welch on the debt and get petty revenge for them refusing his trade terms, causing him to walk away in a hissy fit. Yeah, he sure knows how to close a deal. China will probably write the debt off, once Biden takes office, as a goodwill gesture and to piss Trump off. Lmao.

A source of income and a military at your beck and call to carry the can for your machinations. Promoted employees (president and administration) and collaborators (UK govt) serve to veto UN sanctions against your adopted and illegal state, which they helped create. The only one who balked was Jack, who was foolish enough to publicly threaten the legal owners and look what happened to him! The owners have simply replaced the management team, because they were too abrasive, were beginning to alarm the sheep into a state of wakefulness and that's bad for business. Biden will lull them back to sleep and the owners will get back to fleecing again.
