And others.
In the UK, patients at Broadmoor Hospital (where the criminally insane were incarcerated) were experimented upon, using sensory deprivation cabinets.
Some were allegedly kept in them for days on end, until they lost all sense of personality...permanently.
Those willingly subjecting themselves to the experiment usually climb in for 15 mins and often feel they have been inside for days, even weeks.
It can, with the susceptible, prove to be the worst ordeal they have ever undergone and, remember, these are volunteers, not patients forced into the cabinets against their will.
On the upside, many folk enjoy the experience and a 15 min session doesn't come cheap.
