If you have an agenda you'll work an angle. The church had an angle to work, pressuring Russia to become catholic. The children (and their vision, whether genuine or genuinely induced or just imagined) were a means to an end.

  7. The usual Smoke and Mirrors Show, to perpetuate a myth. Everything, especially something of such great importance, would have been documented. Someone or a group made whatever was documented 'disappear' and the story can be angled, should it be required at some future date. Eg, the bible was edited in 395ad and several books were omitted. Did they cloud issues or run totally contrary. The ones that kept the story flowing, shall we say, made it into the final edition. The rest, including the book of Mary Magdalene, it's rumoured, were just too controversial and are tucked away in the Vatican, somewhere. We know it was edited, because contemporary writers mentioned this at the time.
