  2. geoff deller Go further back, Geoff. Big Pharma was lobbying the US Govt, long before prohibition or nylons, to criminalising it. That's why it underwent the name change, as nobody in their right mind would accept a ban on hemp, because that made zero sense, considering it's almost endless uses. Cannabis, now that was a completely different ball game. Stand in court and try argue against a learned man, a scientist no less, who would assure the court the substance found on the accused or growing in their yard was the illegal substance called cannabis and it was like shouting into the wind. Clever, sly bastards, big Pharma!

  4. Wrong. Completely and utterly wrong. All events and characters you mention played a part, but were not the instigators, merely the agents. True story? Big Pharma lobbied the US Govt. First step was to have the plants (male and female) renamed, in order to have them criminalised, as nobody would have paid a blind bit of attention to Hemp, a plant known and prescribed by doctors for over one hundred different ailments, a sort of cure-all, besides it's various other numerous uses, to it being banned by govt. It was renamed cannabis, which gave govt leverage. An accused man in court could argue it was hemp, but a 'scientific' witness would tell the judge it was cannabis and a conviction would follow. Doctors no longer prescribed it for fear of losing their licence. Big Pharma then filled the enormous gap in the market with their manufactured tablets, pills and potions at exorbitant cost, opioids in particular. The UK, through similar lobbying, followed suit. Palms were and continue to be greased, via one means or another. Do you know how many UK doctors have prescribed medicinal cannabis, since it was legalised a couple of year ago? 18...that's eighteen! When it all boils down to it, the govt has given GP's and specialists the green light to prescribe it...with one proviso. Their medical insurance on the NHS will be revoked should one single patient sue a doctor or trust. Just eighteen patients have benefitted from being prescribed it in almost three years. It's cheap to produce, even medical grade cannabis. Please, don't take my word for anything I've stated, as I actively encourage you to undertake your own research into these matters. I'll leave you to your studies.
