@redplanet7163 Remember that the interbreeding with oceanic human population took place exclusively with female humans, so male denisovians probably thought the same about human chicks! :) Probably some few arriving humans were overhelmed by the local denisovian inhabitants, who ....ehem.... got rid of the males and integrated the females in their tribe. Or perhaps the inmigrants suffered a disaster (like a "shipwreck") and only a few females survived, and they were rescued by a local , denisovian tribe. Thing is, when there is proof that only the males of one side got to reproduce with females from both sides, somenthig bad happened.........

@sahulianhooligan7046 It could perfectly be the case that some humans did make it to Australia before the ancestors of the actuall aborigens, and simply failed to survive past a certain point, before the aborigens arrived, and they had the oportunity to mix with them. Given how sparce the human population of that period is suposed to be, and the fact that we only find a minimum of their remains this stone tools could be the first proof of the existence of such a population...
