This war was avoidable. The Russian demands (with the exception of refusing to even talk about Crimea) were mostly reasonable: Ukraine should not join NATO, with no forgein troops in it, but there was no problem with Ukraine joining EU. The zones of Donbass could reitegrate in Ukraine, as long as they were guaranteed wide autonomy and their agreement would be needed for any international treats made by Ukraine........ The issue with Krimea was indeed great, but they could have agreed to negotiate it in 20 years, for example, when Ukraine would have been a wealthy, modern, and democratic country, a place where most of the people of Krimea would have probably want to belong to........making it almost impossible for Russia to keep it..........
