I do not want to argue who is right or wrong, but once the conflict was initiated, did we really expect that we could simply support Ukraine with weapons and impose sanctions on Rusia, and that in return Rusia would keep us selling cheap gas? I am surprised they keep on sending SOME gas at all to Europe! Probably our politicians actually thought Ukraine could "defeat" Rusia on the battlefield and that the sanctions would bring them onto their knees in the first months of war , before any gas-shortage could affect us...... In this scenario, the ongoing supply of cheap gas, would have been, of course, one of the first demands made by the victoriuos western allies to a defeated and humillated Rusia....... Yeah! What could posibly go wrong! Yes?
