Indeed, Adolf and his fellows where blinded by their ideology.
It would have been more efective just throwing all the people ment for extermination in the hands of the western allies (the soviets didn´t care even about their own people, so they wouldn´t have spend a drop of oil in taking care of 6 million almost dead people).
The nightmare of feeding, bringing medicine, cloths and shelter to this people, would have shurely made more to stop the allied advance than any german counteroffensive (just the city of Paris for example, was already a black hole for american supplies).
Then there is also the litlle detail that 6 million innocent people could have gotten a decent chance to survive, but, I don´t think that german authorities of the time would had seen that as something to concern about.
Just shipping this people to allied controled land, would have allowed the german to save a lot of supplies, spend in something evil that made no military sense, while making the allies spend a huge amount of their supplies, to make something good, but that would compromise their war efforts......
But I am only an armchair-wannabe-fieldmarshall, speaking of something that happend 80 years ago, and with all the information at my disposal........
