  2. My mother was the last of 8 children, born in 1947. All but two survived into adulthood and had their own chidren. BUT just a generation before, my Grandfather, who had also 7 siblings, and was born in 1911, saw only him and another brother survive, while the rest didn`t make it past childhood or early teenage years....... Tha`s a HUGE difference. And life conditions for "peasants" were MUCH better in the eraly 1900s than in the middle of the medieval period.........
