It is also the truth, that most of the sons of the ukranian oligarchs are living in Monaco, spending their daddys money on lavish partys......aparently there is even an inside joke in Ukraine that calls the the "Monaco-brigade"........yet their daddys are the first in the line when it comes to pass laws that punish OTHER PEOPLE for avoiding recruitment.....

PatchesRips Yep. I don´t see any spanish goverment agreeing to let UK rejoin, unless the issue of Gibraltar is properly adressed. Perhaps if Germany was VERY, VERY interested in UK rejoining they would put pressure on Spain to accept some cosmetic concesions, but I don´t think that is going to happen. Also, De Gaulle said that he should never have allowed UK to join the European Market. I don´t think the french are going to make the same mistake twice......

I don`t want this war. I don`t want it to happen, I don`t want the necesary economical sacrificies it brings, and overal, I don`t want to fight in it. This said, IF we are going to do this, we have to go all the way. No bragging now, and then, in two or three years, when we suddenly can`t buy our fancy Apple-devices any more and body bags pile up mountain high, we back of......... There will be poverty. There will be hardships, There will be hunger, and most of the people send into the Russian meatgrinder will not make it back. If we europeans acknoledge this, and even so decide to help Ukraine, I will do my best to do my part. But please, rememeber IT WON`T BE EASY. IT WON`T BE QUICK. WE WILL NOT WIN (even if we do, the price will be so hughe, that "victory" will taste like ahes in our mouth). Even so, we probably should do it.......

This is clasic soviet warfare. They are probing through all the front, starting new offensives when the ucranian forces are busy elswehre, forcing them constantly to re-distribute their formations and supplies (wouldn`t be surprised if they start an offensive at Jehrson once enough ukranian reinforcements arrive in Kharkiv), in hopes that their defences crumble at SOME point..... When this happens they will just pour reserves into the sector that has colapsed, while mantaining pressure at the other fronts......

I think, that although Ukraine would be forced to make HUGE concessions to Russia if peace talks took place under these circumstances, It could also gain some advantages. It is unlikely that they could retain Crimea, or Donbass, but I don`t think Russia would ask for more territotial concessions (or perhaps minimal ones). IF Ukraine can get in exchange their adhesion to NATO and the EU without Russia oposing, this would greatly benefit Ukranian people in the long term..... The leverage Ukraine has right now, is, that, although Ukraine can`t win the war, it CAN make Russia pay a heavy price for its "victory". But, IF they force Russia to pay this price, Russia is going to want the whole prize (all of Ukraine and Moldova). So, both parts will have to think carefully about their situation......

Mosts people lifes will be unaffected by the fact of who gets to finally to exploit the gas-fields of eastern Ukraine "casually" discovered in 2014 (you know, when all this mess began). It`s like the peasants in medieval times....they didn`t give a f......who their feudal lord was (unless they were one the peasants favoured by the lord). For most of them, their life would be unchanged, regardless of who their overlord was, and they only fought beacuse their ACTUALL overlord could punish them if they didn`t. 700 years, nothing has changed. They were 250.000 ukranians and perhaps 300.000 russians who cared enough to go voluntarelly. The rest, knows that the victory of Putin, ot that of Zelenski will mean no difference in their lifes. Or at least, not enough diference to risk their life for it........

All people thinking to volunteer for this slaughter, should make themselves first one important question: WHERE ARE THE SONS OF THE RUSSIAN AND UKRANIAN OLIGARCHS? Once you get the answer to this question, you will surely think twice about volunteering........

Where were all this sanctions when the ukranaian army bombed mercesly the civilians inside the rebell territory from 2014 onwards? And the sanctions against the countries that are arming Saudi Arabia and allowing them to starve the population of Yemen? When is ANYBODY to get sanctioned for selling weapons to Israel? I DON`T CARE who controls the gas-fields of eastern-Ukranine, and that`s what all this war is about. I invite all people who have a particullar opinion about this question, to go themselves to the war-front, and settle there their differences........

@zachdave2994 The soviet army was able to crush the german one mostly because of the mountain of USA-trucks that the lend lease program shiped to them. They were crucial for the infantery and artillery to keep pace with the tanks, and also allowed the soviets to supply their troops. Without the trucks from USA, the soviet army would have been basically a WWI army, with aditional tanks.....

This is, of course BS. Most people won`t see any differences, regardless of who "wins" this war. The only difference is who is going to get rich with the spoils of war. The average ukranian citizicen will be screwed, regardless of wich puppet "rules" Ukraine after the war......

@Hollywood041 And also you have a trade union with Mexico and Canada. So, I don`t really know if the EU is the largest free trade zone of the world...... (although it is more complete, and also includes free movement of workes......to a certain degree). For us europeans it is easy to forget how HUGE USA, Canada and Mexico are..... (economically, in size, and in population......)

@peterhatch206 EXCEPT, Trump expects us to use all our money to buy US-hardware, wich is probably not going to to happen in the amount you expected. My country (Spain) already ditched the purchase of your F-35, and opted for french "Mirage"......you know, we prefer to buy our fighters from a RELIABLE ally. This is something you are going to see more and more in the future.......but hey! All the people that are going to loose their jobs because of this, aren`t going to pay taxes, right? So, everything is fine!

Why does UK not join the free market zone of north-america (USA, Canada and Mexico) ? It is a pure (and huge) free maket zone. The money and (some) products can move freely, but workers not. Seems more like what the people from GB would like. I know mister Trump rejected the idea, but he is no longer in charge......
