  1. They will have the same problem with the F-16, too. Althoug it is a good weapon, and if delivered in enough numbers, it could make the life very unpleasant to the russian air force, truth is, this kind of fighters need an infrastucture and maintainance capacity that Ukraine simply lacks, right now. F-16, for example, needs very precise and well built air-fields to operate from, that do not damage their (comparatively) sensitive landing-gear. Nato, HAS this kind of airfields, the capacity to defend them from enemy attacks, and the capacity to repair them quickly, if they are damaged. Ukraine hasn`t The SAAB 39-Gripen, on the other hand, although not AS fancy as an F-16, is a robust fighter, capable of operating in less than optimal conditions (indeed it is designed to be operated using highways to land and take off, and can so fight from hidden and dispersed positions) and it`s maintenance is, if we compare it to the F-16 a little bit easier. So yeah, the F-16 will be basicaly another flop, given enough time........ They should just have got the SAAB instead
