  1.  @ceejay1476  I think even this may be a bad deal, becuase a, somewhat, powerfull and independent Russia would probably play its own game in case of a "China-West" conflict, and perhaps even ocasionally align with the west, while a "castrated", but not completely defeated, Russia is nothing more than a chinese vassal-state. Can we really afford having Russia on Chinas side if it ever comes to a confrontation (even an economical one)? Just right now, China is getting all the petroleum it needs from Russia, at a spot-price, and I wouldn`t be surprised if they gain acces to their strategic minerals in the next future. Meanwhile the number of chinese civilians living in the far-east part of the Russsia, with the compliance of the authorities, is rising........
