I don`t even trust "REAL" money. Even gold gives me the ick. I only value thinks that are of immediate use (things you can eat, drink, use for shelter, transport, heat or cool, practicall tools, ect.......). If things really goes southwards one day, money will be just good enough to lite a fire, and gold to throw it at somebodies head to keep him from stealing your actually valuable things........ (your seeds, your water-purification system, your food and so on). Always remember the tulip-buble. The only thing that makes this things valuable, is your believe that there is another m*r^n (besides yourself) that will accept them as payment. Once this ceases, you are sitting on a huge pile of nothing (if it was at least sh^t, you could still make fertilizer out of it, indeed, we should make sh*t our currency, because, if someday the economy colapses, we will still be able to give it some use)

@maggiechan33 For the common mortal, i is not feasable to know what the leadership of the CCPP thinks or plans.......but I wouldn`t totally rule out the posibilty that they COULD have anounced this sooner, but choosed to do it NOW, just to kick mr TRUMP in his b*lls

@xxonlineratxx4081 Who cares? If the US use less-efficient tools, while the rest use chinese AI, the only ones suffering the consequences will be the US. It`s like if they had declined the most advanced rocket science or the atomic investigation, because it firsts groundbreacking steps were made by germans, and insiste on doing the work from the scratch themselves........ The fact that they have made it an open source, is just the cherry on the top of the cake. As long as their competition is peacefull, I think the rest of the world will benefit from this conflict between China and the US....... I wouldn`t be surprised, indeed, if the US sees this as a "Sputnik -moment", and decides to embark in a new "Apollo programm" for AI......

Militarely they still have the advantage.....both nuclear and conventional..... in the west they have also a dominant cultural influence China can`t challenge (not so much in the rest of the world, where Chinese and US-culture are seen as equally alien). The rest, is debatable.......in some aspects they have been already surpased, in others they are in danger to be surpased.....

@ob3ythee.t.128 Countries worldwide are getting rid of some of they debt in dollars, and trying to diversify their investments. Also, oil producers now accept payments in other currencies froms certain buyers.....The superiority of the dollar is also beeing challenged....... the challenge is still small, but anybody who would have predicted this situation 20 years ago, would have been laughed of and ignored.......

@ob3ythee.t.128 It is backed by trust. Trust in the Us-relyence and its superriority. It`s esentially a bubble. And we all know how bubble end...... Trust, is a very volatile currency.... At least if you hadn`t so many debt....... But the US (and a lot of other countries) remind me of this people that max out their credit cards, and then apply for another with more limit, to pay out the first, and still have money to fund a lifestyle they can`t afford. You know it`s not gonna end well........

I was going to embark in a long tirade about how capitalism (like comunism or christianity) although good in theory, lack a little bit when it comes to practical implementation. Then I was going to list the differences between the THEORY of capitalism, and what happens IN REALITY if you let it reign uncontrolled (and indeed allow the big corporations to run the goverement). And here you are, and have explained it in one sentence........ Chapeau!
