  1. The resources Japan needed were not in Siberia, they were in the Pacific colonies (mostly the oil from the dutch colonies). Also a full scale atack on the USSR without the aid of the Reich, had no sense. Japan couldn`t defeat the soviets, who could trade territories for time, without loosing significant resources or industries. It would made have sense once operation Barbarrosa started ( to crush the soviets, but this invasion still wouldn´t have brought valuable resources to Japan, while China had plenty of resources to be plundered), but by this time, the army was already commited in China, and there was NO WAY they could launch a mayor invasion of the USSR while fighting in China. Japan and Germany simply failed in coordinating a their actions on long term.......
