@P J I can understand the russian position. Not saying that I aprove it, but their concerns are legitimate. A unified Ucrania integrated in NATO would make conventional defense of russian heartland non-viable in economical terms. They would face the option of A) going bankrupt trying to mantain an effective defensive deployment, B) accept that they cannot defend themselves and become a western puppet-state C) accpet that they cannot defend themselves, invite China to have bases in Russia an become a chinese puppet state I can see why they are not fond of any of these options. For Russia, Ucrania, integrated in the NATO, would mean the same thing that the american SDI meant for the URRS........ their end as a sovereign nation.......

@imperatorcaesardivifiliusa2158 If Russia accepts the integration of Ucraine in the NATO, they are done as sovereign nation, do to be not able to sustain economically a conventional defense of their heartland. Compared to this, there is no scenario in wich an invasion of Ucraine would be "too expensive". Sending weapons to Ucraine is just hitting our chests like a male-gorilla, in an intimidatory exibition (while we secretly pray that the confrontation do not become serious). Giving Putin the freaking respect that he deserves (like the german admiral said) is way cheaper for all parties involved than any other option......

The porpouse of the damm is to generate electricity. If you deny ethopians the use of the damm for this task, you have an argument you can use in negotiations. Something in the way of : "If we don`t achieve an agreement, I cannot avoid be f*cked, but I can make sure that you are as f*cked as me" And I don´t think the egiptians are concerned about the capacity of Ethopia to fill the damm without harming egpcian interests......They are more concerned about their will to do so, if there is any conflict in the future. The ethopian control over the river-flow means that Egipt becomes efectively a vassal-state. If the ethopian goverment is ruthless enough, in the enviroment of a conflict, they could even destroy the damm themselves, so that Egipt (and probably Sudan) would cease to exist as a viable state, do to the tsunami that would erase the only 10% of their land that is of any use..... Or this could be made by any terrorist group........ These are the things that bother the egipcians.......

@rondelbueno Nop, he only steals our money, and make dubious trade with dictatorships and teocracies, while apearing every year in TV telling us to behave.......and now we can´t judge him because he has a constitutional "free form jail" card....... No offense, but FUCK the monarchy........

@rondelbueno Uh! and let me tell you another thing. 99% of inmigrants don´t want to stay in the shitty state of Spain, they wanted to head to France, Italy, and Germany, but we don´t let them, because of EU-laws. Is it better to live in Spain than In Morroco? Indeed. Much better? Not so much.......

@ubuntu2551 Spain did not "exterminate" phisically the guanches. They killed a lot of them (all that dared to opose them, and much more), married the daughters of the local rulers, and integrated their population as peasants in the new spanish-island society, erradicating any trace of local culture and customs. It was a test for spanish "Conquista" of America. And from a spaniard who could not care less about the integrity of Spain, only 14% of the basks want independece righ now. And even in Cataluña "only" 48% want independence......... What do you think is the percentage of sahara-people who want independence from Marroco? :)

@ubuntu2551 Al lot, all that were necsary to achieve the conquest. Like the romans did to the Iberians....and the muslims (wich were mostly north-africans) to the visigothik kingdom that ruled tha peninsula at the time........

The main concern of Spanish politics towards Africa is the (very realistic) fear that in a, not so far, future, Africas population will move north as one, trying to flee the worst effects of climate-change. By strenthening the relationship between all this countrys and Spain, two goals can be achieved: First we create wealth in this countrys, wich will help them to counter the worst effects of climate-change, and made the people want to stay in their own countrys (why emigrate if you have a future in your own place?) Second, and more probably to happen, an economic relationship will allow the spanish goverment to presure local african goverment into avoid (by force, if necesary) their citizens (or other emigrants) heading to Spain........ Marroco and Mali are excelent examples of this politic. We give them money, arm and train their frontier-police, and guarantee them acces to european markets, in echange for helping us to stop inmigration........ Fun fact is that Spain will probably become as inhabitable as most part of Africa in the next 50-100 years, and we should be more concerned about the Scandinavian nations accepting us (spaniards) as climate refugies , than about hundret of millions of african people, heading to a Spain where nothing will be left.

@imperatorcaesardivifiliusa2158 I do not say that I share this concerns, but this are the motivations behind rusian behaviour. Nobody is the villian in his own story. If we simply ignore them, we face war. If we use this knowlwdge in our advantage we can achieve "victory" without fighting. Now Russia is in a position where they have almost no other option then war. Our goal should be the creation of a scenario where they have no other option than peace......

You forgot to mention the cost of managing nuclear waste for centurys...... If you included this cost in the bill, nuclear energy wouldn`t look so cheap and sustainable...... but thats a minor issue, no?
