@thelongvirtuesignal8551 Part of the reason european peasants were so unforgiving to natives of conquered territories (including other white european peasants) was that they lived on the brink of starvation. A good pillage, a subyugated village they could govern as a fiefdom for their medieval overlord or a specailly significant role in the fight and conquest (that could grant them a reward), was sometimes the only thing betweem them (and their families) and a slow, rotting, and cold death........ Are you SURE you would behave otherwise, if you were in their shoes? Because judjing them from your heated home through your Apple-device, after having played some hours with your PS-5 and eaten a meal brought by Deliveroo, is perhaps not the best perspective.........
