  4. ​ @Oo7Hola  To be fair, the Europeans were not aware of the effect of smallpox and other diseases would have on populations that hadn't been exposed to them. It was a tragedy, but not deliberate. Knowledge of viruses and diseases was rudimentary. For example, during the Black plagues in Europe people thought that house cats were to blame and killed them. Little did they know, the cats were controlling the rat and mice population, which were the real vectors, thus making the situation worse.

  16.  @Doc5thMech  On June 24, 1763, during the siege of Fort Pitt a smallpox epidemic did occur, and the British commander tried to break the siege by giving them two blankets and a handkerchief. This is the only recorded instance of this happening. It was not likely to have had an impact, since smallpox was already spreading through the area, colonists and natives were both affected.
