Farming is not financially viable, it only survives at all because farms get handed down to the next generation, and they we born and raised to be fatmers. If they are sold off only huge agribusinesses will be able to afford to buy them up. Say goodbye then to any form of ethical or quality standards in the food produced here. ALL livestock will be raised in megahangers on a cocktail of chemcals, and garbage feed grown on soy beans, for which the few remaining rainforests will be cut down. Every farmer i know CARES about his land and livestock. It's like the sheer idiocy of shutting down gas production in the North Sea, so that we are 100% reliant on the likes of putin and the gulf tyrants, whose production methods are ten x more environmentally damaging than ours. For what? To reduce our minuscule carbon footprint, while creating a far bigger one welsewhere.
