I'm guessing there'll be a nice kickback for him buying all those electric vans.

This test in the depths of winter with lights and heated seats, screen, and heater on would be interesting.

Heat pumps.

@GeoffBuysCars true but if outside temp is ten degrees lower, that's a whole different ball game.

+1 for the you were definitely knobbled. Your gummy carb pre-existed ( if it is that; I think that second pot only comes in at higher revs if it is like landy twin Weber on early 90s and 110s) and there's no way that vac hose moved itself. Need to find this bloke. Imagine if you'd got stranded on a smart motorway and cleaned-up by a wagon because the magic red X didn't do its job. He's a liability and needs a little lesson or two administering to him.

It's as if the only winners here are big industry and energy companies. Who'd have thought it?

I drove from Flamborough Head to North Ferriby; it was a real Wold test.

British Gas man told me he books down 8hrs a week charging. No wonder the bills are going up.

This is exactly why my heating compsny has yet to sell an sir source heat pump installation.... "Were you missold a heat pump?" It'll happen and it won't be the government held to account.

That's a lot of emissions over the lifetime of 3000 cars that have barely turned a wheel...

No I want my 60s diesel landy; doesn't need electric once it is running, axle and transmission breathers, raised air intake if things get really bad. No upholstery; water in, water out. At at the very worst it'll run on anything vaguely oily as it did way back in the early 2000s during the fuel blockade. (I wasn't avoiding duty; I'd have paid it if the gov ensured i could have bought road fuel). Cold, slow, smelly, noisy. But on its third life at 60years old and and 30mpg on a run.

Road pricing is a tax on freedom: the rich would have freedom, the poor not.

So this chump has saved £4000 in three years. Let's say for the sake of argument he's a third of his way through the EV's battery life, ie, car's actual lifespan, chump will have 'saved' £12000ish over the car's life. At that point the nine year old EV has £0 value, unlike a nine year old ICE. Oh and best not forget that the EV was way more that £12000 to buy in the first place. And then factor in the wasted time standing around waiting for it to charge (£50-100ph in my case, more or less depending on what you do) or looking for a charger when away from home, or the cost of the solar panels and batteries that these smart-arses install to try to claim it's worth having an EV. AND then there's the extra environmental cost of the EV's production and lack of longevity. These EVangelists are either nutjobs, gullible or thick as fuck. Possibly all three. The high-handed, smug, clever-arse responses here tells me all I need to know about these people. The only people who are happy with their EV's are those who aren't owner drivers. And that's not sustainable. The rest are just 'coping'. Same with people who have pulled out perfectly good boilers and had ASHP fitted. They'll tell you they're saving loads of money while they sit there in their coat.

The forecourt will be owned by people not if this parish so go and find a smaller local family-run business.

Local tyre place tells me they're doing loads of EV tyres more regularly than ICE vehicles. One customer with BMW EV has at least two sets a year for his 40mile daily commute. BMW told him to not use sport mode. He wasnt. 😂
