  6. First, I want to address the fact that the lightbulb cartel is a prime example of the reality of all consumer manufacturers, governments, militaries and so on. It's a fact Jack, :), that this type of activity is one of the specific reasons why business conventions are held. To spread the idea, and then plan the obsolescence, of the things they sell, make or rip from the planet. Sometimes under the guise of the exact opposite purpose. That's Capitalism at its roots. The act of conspiring against another in a Conspiracy is as real as the act eating sleeping, etc. And it has been a part of life since before we had language and intelligence. Even apes do it when they 'plan' as a group attack and kill another living creature. Hunting was one of the most widespread and predominant types of pre-intelligence forms of conspiring. And there is always a leader in every one, who starts the conspiring it's rarely mutual among a group, until someone forces or convinces them to take part! Most people in the world have experienced or participated in at least small scale versions at least once. It a common topic in most fictional stories we create, As soon as 2 or more people agree, and then plan to do something to someone for either a negative or even positive reason, they've entered a Conspiracy. Look up the definition of the word. Ostracizing other kids in school, a fellow employee at work, and so on are all part of the concept and its coded in our DNA. In the military I myself had to participate in one during basic training, under orders, to remove an 'undesirable' recruit who was negatively affecting the platoon statistics and would reflect on the performance of the NCO's .Yet govt, business, etc. do everything to get people to believe that those who try to warn others about possible large scale negative conspiracies (especially, that they are actually committing), are deranged), Usually, the more effort put in to destroy an individual's credibility, the more right those individuals are.

  7. Just as I thought.... I knew I recognized Mr. Pournelle !! I wonder if these ideas of Jerry's had anything to do with him becoming a "Science Fiction" writer. But, I see nothing to do with actual Aerospace Engineering in his educational background!! And that worries me somewhat. I guess that's what you get when you accept ideas from an unqualified scientist . NOTE: Taken from wikipedia --- Jerry Eugene Pournelle (/pʊərˈnɛl/; August 7, 1933 – September 8, 2017) was an American scientist in the area of operations research and human factors research, a science fiction writer, essayist, journalist, and one of the first bloggers.[1] In the 1960s and early 1970s, he worked in the aerospace industry, but eventually focused on his writing career. In an obituary in Gizmodo, he is described as "a tireless ambassador for the future."[2] He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1953–54, after his military service, Pournelle attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City.[11] Subsequently, he studied at the University of Washington, where he received a B.S. in psychology on June 11, 1955; an M.S. in psychology (experimental statistics) on March 21, 1958; and a Ph.D. in political science in March 1964.[12] His master's thesis is titled "Behavioural observations of the effects of personality needs and leadership in small discussion groups", and is dated 1957.[13] Pournelle's Ph.D. dissertation is titled "The American political continuum; an examination of the validity of the left-right model as an instrument for studying contemporary American political 'isms'".[14][15] Pournelle held paleoconservative political views,[a person who advocates old or traditional forms of conservatism; an extremely right-wing conservative.] which were sometimes expressed in his fiction. He was one of the founders of the Citizens' Advisory Council on National Space Policy, which developed some of the Reagan Administration's space initiatives, including the earliest versions of what would become the Strategic Defense Initiative.----
