The American people — indeed, people around the globe — should be grateful that Tony has dug into this crisis with the same work-around-the-clock, just-the-facts-ma’am style that he has used while serving under and working with six U.S. presidents. He is as apolitical as anyone can be. I have no idea whether he is registered with any political party; I suspect though that he is rabidly independent. His only focus is getting the facts out, providing the best health care treatment and information possible, and saving lives.

@debrashawcross170 Dr. Fauci sets a great example. For most of his life, a long run was simply built into Fauci’s insanely busy schedule as the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a daily appointment as routine as breakfast and dinner. He didn’t have to remind himself to breathe in fresh air. He couldn’t wait. “Not only was it every day, but there was almost nothing that could stop us,” said Mike Goldrich, the NIAID’s former chief operating officer who also happened to be Fauci’s running buddy. “Ice. Snow. Rain. Heat. We were big fans of Gore-Tex.”

@debrashawcross170 I hope it's not.

Like adults, children also can transmit the coronavirus to others if they’re infected, even when they have no symptoms. Getting the COVID-19 vaccine can protect the child and others, reducing the chance that they transmit the virus to others, including family members and friends who may be more susceptible to severe consequences of the infection.

@grifgrif624 The most influential man in American public health is a 79-year-old former marathoner who jogs and power walks as much as possible. ‘There was almost nothing that could stop us,’ his running partner says.

RogerWilco99 You are missing it. Even at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, Fauci was fastidious about his noontime run. He powered through five miles at roughly eight minutes per mile, and he even stuck to the same route: left from Building 31 on the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda, Md., across Rockville Pike and into Rock Creek Park.

@williamvonschenk2273 This transmission also provides a chance for the virus to mutate further and create a new variant that might prove more infectious or resistant to the available vaccines and therapies. Fewer overall infections among the population means less chance of severe infection and death in the community and of dangerous coronavirus variants emerging.

@williamvonschenk2273 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
