It very true that Iraqi forces were combat veterans but that ultimately didnt help them due to the major differences in equipment The T-72 armor , ammunition and sensor was vastly inferior to the Abrams. Its has been stated that it would have been different if Iraq has the newest T-72s however the majority of Iraqi armor was destroyed by aircraft. So even with the best T-72, that still would mean nothing to AGM-65 and GBU-12 that US aircraft were dropping on Iraqi armor
