@fivestringslinger People dont understand that Teen series success is over decades of upgrades and changes The F-16 don't come off the production line block 72, Block 20 is very different aircraft from block 72 Same with the F-15 and F-18, successive upgrades got them to where they are today Most of the bad press about the F-35 is people not understanding how things work When F-15 and F-16 within their first 10 years, they both put close 30 aircraft in ground from accidents/incidents with considerable loss of life The F-35 has several incidents with 6 accidents with only one life lost over its 14 year period Try to mention that and it gets buried The F-35 came from the F-18 success The F-18 had a massive amount of negative press because no one believed that it could replace the F-14 In the gulf war, two F-18s carrying four 2000lbs engaged two MIGs, downed them, returned to mission and hit their targets and returned to their carrier That proven that multi role aircraft worked and that aircraft didnt need to be high on the air to air combat side

@gregcampbell4552 Again false information the USN has only had the F-35C operational for little over 2 years So they are still learning

@fivestringslinger The F-15/16/18 were considered expensive for their day and they have a fraction of the technology that F-22 and F-35 has The F-22 is different because the USAF did cram in quite a bit. Ironically they also took out a bit as well I know the F-15 was 20 mil per plane , the rest I am not sure about

Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing wrong the F-35 program The only real mistake is the differences between the F-35A and F-35C The F-35B was always going to be different but they went a lot overboard with the F-35A and F-35C There are far too many differences between those models
