  4.  @PikkuKani  Its not about the F-22 or F-35 Its about support structure if you asked how would the USAF to China or Russia's doorstep The answer would simply what asset you wanna use and we can be there in x amount of hours or days If you ask China or Russia to do the same, and answer is ,they cant The USAF has hundreds of tankers as well strategic bases outside the US allowing to get aircraft to any ones doorstep in a matter of hours China is still building its tanker fleet but its not enough for global projection Case in point, out of the blue, the USAF sent 5 B-2s to strike Yemen and for a few days afterward complete silent and fear from Yemen

Fighters with large caliber cannons made that moot as well as the missile age The key for next generation is asset denial AWACS and SAM site radar are the only real problems The MIG-31 has a long range radar but that only sees part of the sky whereas AWACS has just 360 visibility Without radar from AWACS or on the ground, your ability to counter an attacking force greatly hampered

  6. The 6th gen is evolution of the lessons learned from the previous generation. It should incorporate the latest engine technology for superior performance namely fuel efficiency , speed and less maintenance. Like the F-35 has no HUD, the 6th should take cockpit ergonomics to the next level. Electronic warfare should be almost as good as dedicated EW asset and lastly it should bring it own unique weapons. The F-35s is the GBU-53 and JSM. The 6th should be the first generation of airborne laser weapons as well as a Advanced Capabilities Missile ACM should be similar to the MIM-146 ADATS. The ADATS was missile able to engage armor on the ground but also had the same to engage aircraft The ACM should follow suit. A missile with the speed to engage aircraft but Joint Multi-Effects Warhead able to engage targets on the ground. The F-15EX can carry up 22 AIM-120s but only engage aerial targets but the ACM would be able to engage anything the pilot needs to target
