@thomasantn Simple, the F-22 was cancelled and left with insufficient numbers to maintain US air supremacy. The F-15C is too old. The F-15EX is technically years over due but its not a front line weapon The F-35 isnt quite a air superiority asset. With the limited F-22s, supported by F-15EX and F-35 Can the USAF maintain achieve air supremacy in conflict, the answer is questionable Will airspace be contested , yes but the USAF has too few F-22s to do so The simple fact is that USAF no longer has technological gap that allowed it to comfortably maintained air supremacy So that 300 price may be high but its badly needed The USAF is long over due for technological upgrade that will allow it to comfortably maintained air supremacy for correct and future conflicts

What we know is that they are all bark and no bark The J-20S has been known for a long time The J-36 that is flying is like Chinese replacement for the JH-7s, The JH-XX has been also known for a long time The irony here is that the F-22 was cancelled because of lack of threat from the Russian and Chinese programs however that changed ,the F-22 production had already ended The NGAD has been having similar issues however the existence of this plane now gives the USAF ammo to justify spending on NGAD The USN also benefits for its FA/XX program too
