@Christian Patton The F-22s retirement is a done deal because its too hard upgrade its systems and does not have the F-35s flexibility. The only hope is that USAF one learned from the mistakes made with the F-22 and F-35 programs two and most important carried over the best features from F-22 and F-35 to the NGAD Right now they are testing the design of the aircraft before moving on to the next step but like the F-22 , the NGAD is done deal The USAF has had companies working on advance tech for its 6th gen aircraft since 2010 Most of its is complete ,they just need a working design to cram it all into RR, GE and PW were all contracted to build ADVENT engines which they have done The F-22 pioneered sensor fusion, the F-35 is advanced application so the NGAD is likely even more advanced The F-22 ALR-94 was 30 plus antenna blended into aircraft, the F-35 ASQ-39 is just 10. The reason why these system will carry over is because allows the F-22 and F-35 to passive id and track targets. The F-35 can visual ID targets with DAS which another system that will likely carry over Carrying over the best features from the F-22 and F-35 as well not repeating the pass mistakes will aid the NGAD and FAXX

@lape2002 You are confusing fiction with fact Massive lobbying, its called reality ding dong The Rafale does not live up to all its hype despite Dassaults boasting. It uses mainly french weapons are not common and very costly AASM costs 200K while a JDAM cost as much 57K The Eurofighter production line is closing. The last ditch order from Germany extended it to 2030 vice 2023 The Eurofighter problem has been its lack upgrades. Most users are doing their own programs vice having a common upgrade program. its 2021 and lacks of weapons is still problem for it SAAB's Gripen like the Rafale is all hype as it can't secure a contract SAAB problem is that they lack the industrial capability to deliver aircraft quickly Airbus , SAAB, Dassault are trying sell used aircraft much like how nations buy EX-us fighters with little success The USAF is committed to F-35 to 2070 while Rafale, Gripen and Eurofighter will be in boneyard by 2050 So bother with aircraft like Rafale, Gripen and Eurofighter that is in the process of being phased out As for 1500 its not 1500, its 1800 F-35 and yes its happening the USAF is neck downing to NGAD, F-35 and F-15EX. The F-22, F-15A/B/C/D/E, F-16 and A-10 are going to boneyard which makes room the newer F-35 blocks

@puellamservumaddominum6180 Yet the F-35 has no trouble finding buyers whereas Russia Su-57s has been available for export for how now with zero buyers Russia tech gained a reputation in Vietnam and the middle east against US 3rd aircraft. After Vietnam and introduction of US 4th gen aircraft, that reputation vanished over night F-15s and F-16s in Israeli hands decimated middle east in the air and on the ground Between the 70s and present, the superiority of US made technology over Russian has been clear where Russian tech has scored a handful of victories at best Besides Vietnam ,when was the last time Russia tech demonstrated its clear superiority over US. Clear not fan boy claims. The USAF is testing NGAD design right now as they have a lot tech to cram. The USN canx the railgun was because they don't have ship to trial it on The weapons requires a lot of power and few ships generate that much as well as lot of space Secondly Laser weapons are maturing faster than expected. They are smaller and more compact and dont require a lot of space Railgun needs magazine space for its ammunition plus power as well deck space for the weight of gun. Laser weight considerably less and only require power The USN may have canx for ships but its not dead because as land based defense , its has great potential Making land based does not have the constraints of ship borne. As for the USAF NGAD its likely 3D printing They used 3D printing and advanced robotics on a industrial scale and reduced overall construction time from years to weeks. Basically similar to how car are.
