@larsrons7937 Yes and no Most European and Africa countries ban the use of cluster munitions but the US , China , Russia and a few others still reserve the right to use to them The problem is Russia's indiscriminate use of them

The problem is that the front is over 1200 miles long, they need at 50 HIMARS and 100 M270s but at same time they still need self-propelled 155m systems and shouldnt overly rely on the HIMARS Ukraine needs to learn combined arms tactics so they can maximize the effectiveness of these systems Russian forces are deploy air defense equipment to try and protect high value targets This where Ukraine need to coordinate with Special forces to use ATGMs to knock out key pieces of air defense equipment followed immediately by shelling from Pzh-2000s With that neutralized, it clears the way for HIMARS to strike with impunity The problem with contending with those system is that continuously firing allows air defense units to gain a picture which down the road would be bad Secondly Ukraine wants the ATACMS, they need to start clearing out Russian air defense units at whole sale prices ATACMS requires 4 mins of flight time which is ample for air defense The shorter range M31s travel too low and fast Ukraine is doing well but a few more things that they can do better

The US denial of the ATACMS makes no sense When the the US need to do business its Uncle TLAMs that gets the call The USAF backed that up with AGM-86 CALM and now the newer JASSM They are saying it would hurt the US inventory is non-sense As the PrSM enters production, the ATACMS will be withdrawn It literally saves the US millions giving them to Ukraine vs having to deal with cost of De-mil Show some countries may buy a few but giving them to Ukraine benefits the US in several ways

@kimpedersen4746 The ATACMS far better than the Storm Shadow First Ukraine only has a limited Su-24 while the ATACMS can be used any HIMARS or M270 launcher Thats all 38 HIMARS and 23 M270 are able is ATACMS If the US got Ukraine up 50 HIMARS and 50 M270s, thats 100 launchers able to ATACMS vs trying get more Su-24 fitted for Storm Shadow Second the Su-24 has low level to avoid Russian defense Both HIMARS and M270 can approach undetected , fire and depart 5 HIMARS or M270 from Odessa or Kherson can easily fire on Sevastopol without warning While Storm Shadow has better warhead , Ukraine lacks the aircraft

Honestly, I think that Ukrainian forces are not going to reveal how this was done because they are likely planning on strike out critical assets so they are going to keep quiet for now

@Anita-k Blowing depots is good but material is equally as important S-400, S-300, Buk, Tor ,Panstir S1, EW equipment, communication points, airfields with KA-52, Mi-28 and Mi-35 Those are the material Ukraine forces should be going after Without air defense protecting the sky, the Ukraine air force can come off the bench and take a more active role Without KA-52, Mi-28 and Mi-35, Ukrainian armor can more much for freely and also take more active role Knocking out those targets pays dividends for Ukraine in several ways Depots destruction slows them down but replacing those assets is hard Russia's inventory of KA-52 is barely 200 and they have lost 14 in Ukraine already

@Conan-ny1um The US is not keen on cluster munitions right but they consider them a last resort As for attacking Russia inland There is simple solution to that Have Ukrainian engineers work on upgrading the R-360 Neptune for land attack The Harpoon, Exocet ,RBS-15 and pretty most of the newest models of those missiles and the newer gen of ASM can attack both land and sea targets so its strange that Ukraine didnt lnclude that with the Neptune

Germany is making IRIS-T SLM units plus supplying them with Gepards for point defense Thats the makings of a very modern and advanced integrated air defence system (IADS) and very big problem for the Russian air force Ukraine has the HIMARS and Harpoon Launchers Both have the option for missiles up to 190 miles While the HIMARS can't attack targets at sea, the Harpoon can The Harpoon has topside canister launcher for smaller ships which like lightweight fast attack craft which again problem for the Russian's 4 Frigates in the Black Sea As time goes, Ukraine is getting more and more and things will get very bad Like very bad Russia's success has been the lack of capabilities of the Ukrainian military as a whole as well their screw ups
