Yeah thats not going to fly 43 mil for disaster that will easily hit 3 billion The ship's owner is in for a helluva shock
14
Its not that simple We dont know if the work crew had a radio secondly it was only 3 mins from loss of power to impact if they had been warned ,they may have been able to get clear but at the end of the day its still the Dali fault for setting sail despite having power issues
12
Closure for that family now the work will speed out since all bodies have been recovered
11
Of course its realistic As they are cutting the beams, its lighten the weigh which in turn will make it easier to remove Once they get the target weight, things will move considerably faster
5
@tom-dznuts Its same as with an airline or trucker company Even though their employee was at the wheel They are still liable The bridge cost is 3 part Removal cost Replacement cost economic cost The ship owner will have to pay all 3 and if gross negligence pays a factor, then criminal cost as well
4
If they had been no lost of live they would have demoed everything from the start
3
Everyone has been effected by this Docker workers cant unload ships and ships cant leave which is massive ripple effect across the whole country
2
Getting closer to figuring out why
1
And so it begins
1
@yettimannettii2039 They need the Dali out of the way
1
@yettimannettii2039 That ship is the biggest problem for the reopening that channel
1
@yettimannettii2039 The best place to keep the Dali crew is on the ship if legal action is taken, its easier to find them If you put them up in hotel and they decide to skip to Canada and back to SIngapore or India cant really stop them Unlike other countries with ship and sailors stranded because the owners went broke and they cant afford to go home The US doesnt tolerate that mess here so they are well taken care of
1
@tom-dznuts True the pilot is control the ship however they are only the advisers to the captain and responsible still rest on the ship captain and owner if the ship had struck the bridge while the pilot was in control , then it would be on the pilot however the ship lost power and the pilot had zero control of the ship so now the investigation is focusing on why the ship lost power if they find that power loss was due to the crew not properly performing required maintenance , then its the ship owner if they find that power loss was due to part failing that was beyond crew control, then they would be off the hook if they find that power loss was due contaminated fuel , then its on the ship owner still 25 percent as fuel is supposed to checked if they find that company that supplied the fuel did not follow proper produces , then its 75 on them but they will argue about the crew checking the fuel The only way they are off the hook is if the power loss was beyond their control
1
@tom-dznuts No, the ship losing power is the issue and why
1
@tom-dznuts Thats the problem, the ship had no secondary steering. The back up system only supplied to electrical system not propulsion if the ship did have secondary steering, the question is asking why they didnt turn completely around when they lost power If the ship lost power, they were supposed put the ship in a neutral position in the harbor so engineering could trouble shoot the issue i
1
@tom-dznuts SOLAS is not enforcement agreement as it lacks penalties. It was already stated that the ship's back generator only supported the electrical systems not propulsion , if there was secondly steering, the question is asking why didn they turn around What was supposed to happen was the ship was supposed to kill its forward momentum as the bridge was ahead of them and them retain a neutral position while the issue was trouble shoot but none of that happened My theory and most likely scenario is that ship was experiencing power issues but the captain did not want to delay departure and incur the cost of staying in port longer while engineering tried to ID the issue. Instead he decided to chance it and here we are
1
There YT Crews race to clear wreckage after the Baltimore Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse at 1.33, you can clearly see the channel So why with all that space, the ship veered in that direction is the other problem
1
@neilkurzman4907 There a lot of questions that need answering at the end of this day because too much is not making any kind of rational sense
1
@tom-dznuts SOLAS is not enforceable item at the end of the day According to the time log, there between power loss and hit was 2 mins yet the ship took no action while the power was out only when power was came back ,is when action was take so whatever emergency back up they is not manual but electrical We are assuming that it was built to the same standards but its looking less and less that it was
1
@tom-dznuts The treaty has no legal enforcement or penalties attached to it The question of why all the redundancies failed is the heart of the issue
