  2.  @user-kc1tf7zm3b  That would be false The F-15 and F-16 have had long lives and excellent combat performance due to successive upgrades The F-15 and F-16 have been designed in 70s but the F-15EX and F-16 Block 72 are still in top 5 of the 4.5 generation outclassing newer aircraft like Rafale The F-18E/F was designed in the late 90s but the Block III upgrades gives it considerable capabilities So like the F-15 and F-16, the successive upgrades to F-18 keeps it very much relevant for now and the near future The F-35C and USN are complicated but simple situation They need the F-35C badly but they are waiting till Lockheed declares the Block 4 software operational The Block 4 is the most mature version of the F-35 and gives full capability So by delaying a bit, they can buy aircraft at block 4 and save more as it reduces the number of aircraft that need to upgraded to block 4
