The reality is that its waste of time The MIG-29s Poland has are old as hell MIG-29s that lack all the modern features and weapons that the newer model Russia aircraft have Neither Poland or Ukrainian have long range BVR missiles whereas Russia aircraft do Neither Poland or Ukrainian have AWACS whereas Russia does When you lay it out logically its waste of time aerial warfare is nothing like whats happening on the ground

Its idea but not a great one The MiG-29 Poland are old with no upgrades whereas Russia's aircraft have far more tech The Ghost of Kyiv managed to catch them off guard it likely won't happen again

@houstonmiguel2474 Here's the problem lets use the convoy for example If you wanted to be precise with MIG-29 You would need the laser guided S-25 rocket ,however the MIG-29 can only carry 6 That convoy is 40 miles long Using all 28 MIG-29, you would be able to destroy that convy The F-16 can carry 8 CBU-87s put this YT search and watch the first hit CBU-87/B Combined Effects Munition (CEM) Live Fire Mind you thats just 3 bombs As for the F-18 Put this in Google and look for the hit from The drive This Syria-Bound Super Hornet Is Carrying A Uniquely Massive Bomb Load Thats F-18 loaded with ten 1000lbs JDAMs If Ukraine could get western aircraft they would be able to inflict some major damage

No ,the truth is that MiG-29s are a waste of time Lets say you give them to the Ukrainian Air Force what good are they Do they have advanced radar and sensors on par with the Russia air force no Do they have advanced air to ground and air to air capabilities no Do they have the latest generation of weapons no The DOD isnt stupid, they know its a waste of time

Even the MIG-35 which is the most mature model is still a joke compared to F-16 and F-18 Secondly they are for short-range air defence. Exactly the problem Neither Poland or Ukraine has the R-77. They only have the older model R-27, R-60s and R-73. So problem one, they are out ranged Secondly the Ukraine air force has no AWACS Third, they lack advance air to ground capabilities The F-16 and F-18 would eat that massive convoy outside of Kyiv alive in less than a hour with a combo Cluster bombs and smart bombs Ukraine needs aircraft with advanced air to air and air ground capabilites and the Poland's MIG-29s is not it

So while Russia was able to target Ukraine bases, they were still able to relocate some aircraft. As Russia boldly claimed that they had neutralized the Ukrainian air force and air defense capability, they sent in their aircraft bomb laden and unescorted Since they were bomb laden and unescorted, the Ghost of Kyiv had a field day. Since that incident, Russian aircraft are no long unescorted. They have also brought A-50s so they dont get caught off guard again

@surj138 Look its very simple Due to budget cuts Russia did not make its equipment of the strongest metal on earth Stalinium Since they are not using Stalinium thats why they taking such heavy losses
