I think you will find that the people there protested because janukovitch broke his election promise to sign the EU partnership agreement and trundled off to moscow instead. Support for eu membership is very high in ukraine, so let them decide their own future instead of denying them agency.

Come visit me here, and then we'll compare the alternatives over a cappuccino, and talk about what it is the ukranians and russians want from this, because you would like it here. The dreams of imperial renewal are all around, and the state controlled media, which is all of it, pumps out conspiracy theories by the dozen, and I get to listen to far-right nut jobs introduced as normal western opinion. .
