  3. The France which supported the revolutionaries was the ancien regime. Britain was over a century ahead in development. The enlightenment names which adorn your streets were enemies of the French state and inspired the revolution which engulfed it. The reason Louis XVI. funded you was to weaken Britain, because iBritain was the more progressive alternative with its Bill of Rights from 1689 and constitutional monarchy built on the sovereignty of Parliament, an anathsema to the French state.
