Before 1991, all subjects in all schools in Ukraine were taught in Russian. btw. 69 % of Ukranians are L1 Ukranian speakers. Before Russification, beginning 1921, it was above 90%.

  20. ​ @mikek0135 the Russian Federation and Ukraine were formed at the same time, atthe dissolution of the Soviet Union. Ukraine formally existed as a separate state for 3 years, between 1918 and 1921.

  21. ​ @akakiiakakievich1646 Kievan Rus ceased to exist. Something which no longer exists cannot become something else. That is called logic. New state forms emerged as a direct consequence of the Mongol invasions and Frankish/Byzantine influences. One of these state forms was Muscovy.
